Budget-friendly activities to celebrate mom on Mother's Day.

Mother's Day is quickly approaching, and the need to find the perfect gift is becoming a reality.

Take a moment to think about the Mom in your life and what she would truly love for Mother's Day. Many times, our initial reaction is to try and find the “perfect” gift for someone.

I don't know about you, but I can spend countless hours shopping and researching the perfect present. When it comes to Mother's Day, I feel like it needs to be even more special.

Make it a point this year to embrace Mother's Day with open arms and showcase what makes Mother's Day amazing…the presence of your Mom.

This year, skip the gifts and opt for family-friendly activities instead! Make memories this Mother's Day by spending time and interacting with the Mom in your life!

Here are some affordable family-friendly activities to celebrate the mom in your life.

GO ON A PICNIC

Have fun planning for this! Pack a picnic full of your mom's favorite foods, drinks, and sweets and surprise her with a fun lunch, brunch, or dinner. Is there a better way to celebrate your mom than by having her not have to lift a finger to help out with any of the surprise planning?

MAKE HER BREAKFAST IN BED

A mother's job is never done, right? From the moment she wakes up in the morning, her day is spent making meals, working, cleaning, and transporting.

A mother's day-to-day seems to go full-speed all the time. This Mother's Day, start your day before she starts hers. Have each member of the family pick a food item that they can handle, and let each person create a masterpiece of their own. Scrambled eggs, bacon, fruit salad? Anything can be on the menu! Don't forget the coffee!

TAKE A TRIP TO YOUR LOCAL GREENHOUSE

Take a trip to the local greenhouse and let Mom pick out her favorite plants. Often, we try to guess what Mom would like and then just make a decision on a whim. Why? Make it a family-friendly activity trip to the greenhouse together to view all the fantastic options.

Join your Mom in her passion for plants and let her enjoy taking her time viewing all the beauties of nature. Let her choose a plant that brings her happiness that she can then care for and grow for many months or even possibly years to come!

HAVE A SPA DAY

Feeling like Mom needs a little pampering? Why not make it a family event for everyone to be able to relax together? Book a massage, a pedicure, or just a fun salt scrub. A spa day is a great way to relax and spend time together enjoying each other's company without the stresses of anyone having to lift a finger.

PLANT YOUR OUTDOOR GARDEN

Does Mom love to garden? What better day than Mother's Day to help out as a family and get that garden in tip-top shape? Make sure to listen to Mom's wants and needs of how she envisions the garden, and work together to make it happen for her. Have fun taking breaks and enjoying some fun finger foods and fresh-squeezed lemonade on this special day.

HAVE AN AT-HOME MOVIE NIGHT

Find out Mom's favorite flicks, and add them to the movie night. Create a charming, comfy, snuggle area, and have a movie-night binge! Don't forget the popcorn, drinks, and movie candy. Everything that you get for movie night should be focused on what your Mom loves.

GIVE YOUR MOM OPTIONS

While creating one idea to surprise her with is lovely, why not give her the choice of a couple of ways to spend the day? It is HER day after all, right? Create a “menu” of family-friendly activities that she can choose from. Have fun with it. It's an amazing, fun and unique way to celebrate her on her day.

Leave the pressure of gifts in the past this Mother's Day. Have fun as a family planning a day that any Mom would love with these fun family-friendly activities. Put the focus back on what makes Mother's Day so amazing – Mom.

Do you have any fun plans for Mother's Day? Something unique? Let me know about them in the comments below!
